2015 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence Call for Nominations

Nominations are now open for the Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. The prize, which was established in 1989 with funds provided by Mrs. Bullock, is the University of Alaska Foundation鈥檚 most prestigious award. The honor, along with the $15,000 that goes directly to each year鈥檚 recipient, provides meaningful acknowledgement to its recipient and inspiration to others. Each year the 女优合集 Foundation Board of Trustees selects an individual whose work has demonstrated excellence in support of the University of Alaska to be the winner of the Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence.

Any 女优合集 student, faculty, staff member or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to further the university鈥檚 mission of 鈥渋nspiring learning, and advancing and disseminating knowledge through teaching, research, and public service鈥︹ is eligible to be nominated for the prize.

The deadline for receipt of complete nomination packets, including application, resume or CV, and letters of reference, is Dec. 1, 2014. Any material postmarked after midnight on the deadline date will be considered for the following year鈥檚 prize. Nominations may be mailed or electronically submitted.

Board of Regents to meet in Juneau to approve budgets, policies and programs

The Board of Regents will meet Sept. 18-19 at the University of Alaska Southeast Student Recreation Center on the Juneau campus. Public testimony will be held at approximately 8:30 a.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.

The regents will have an early look at the draft FY16 operating and capital budget requests. They also will review proposed changes to human resources policies, including the addition of administrative leave that could be used in cases of weather or campus closures. The full board also will consider proposed tuition rates for the 2016 academic year.

A number of program changes are up for approval, including a medical assisting certificate at 女优合集S; a post-graduate certificate in speech-language pathology at the University of Alaska Anchorage; and deletion of early childhood programs at 女优合集S. The provosts will present a program review and accreditation report to the Academic and Student Affairs committee, as well as a credit transfer summary report.

The Facilities and Land Management Committee will receive updates on several major projects in the system, including Kenai Peninsula College student housing and career and tech center, Juneau campus modifications, the 女优合集A and 女优合集F engineering buildings, the 女优合集F combined heat and power plant, deferred maintenance and more.

The Audit Committee will review the 2014 Audit and Consulting Services annual report, consider the 女优合集 Foundation FY15 Operating budget, and hear an update on the 女优合集 identity theft prevention program.

The Lumina Foundation will make an informational presentation to the full board on Thursday morning. The focus will be on the state of higher education in Alaska within the national context.

On Thursday evening, the board will have an opportunity to view the new freshman housing complex at 女优合集S.
