University of Alaska Names Interim Chief Risk Officer

General Counsel Mike Hostina has appointed Greg Busch as Acting Chief Risk Officer. Busch assumes the duties of Nancy Spink who retired in November.

鈥淚 am delighted to have someone of Greg鈥檚 caliber step up to fill this vital role while we examine the most effective ways to provide risk services across the 女优合集 system,鈥 Hostina said.  鈥淕reg will help guide Risk Management through the SW transformation process as well as continuing to provide vital services performed by Risk Management for the university system.鈥

Busch steps into this role from his position as the University of Alaska鈥檚 [女优合集] emergency manager where he has provided systemwide leadership and strategic direction. He will lead a university-wide risk management program that includes Enterprise Risk Management, advanced emergency response, loss prevention, risk financing, claims management and risk information systems.

鈥淭he University of Alaska is always evaluating  ways to manage risk strategically.  Our changing fiscal environment makes this even more critical. I am thankful for the opportunity to provide leadership for the department and the University in meeting these challenges,鈥 Busch said.  鈥淭his is my passion and I look forward to working with colleagues across the system to ensure safety, accept appropriate levels of risk and meet the University鈥檚 needs for an agile and responsive risk management  program.鈥

Busch joined the university in December 2014 as director of emergency management. He has 14 years of experience leading effective safety and emergency management programs in education and healthcare settings. Busch holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from North Dakota State University, and a Master鈥檚 degree in Business Administration from the University of Mary.
